Founder Upset at Low Ranking

Washington, DC, September 13, 2011: TCG has been recognized by Washington Business Journal as one of the Top 20 Small Technology Companies in the Washington, DC metropolitan area for the third year in a row. TCG is ranked 11th on the list, which is based on 2010 metro-area revenue and was published in the August 19–25 issue. TCG was previously ranked on the list in 2009 and 2010, and the company has grown by 364% over the last five years.

Founder Daniel Turner described himself as sorely disappointed. “You think you raise a company right, give it all the back office support you can afford, send it to the right conferences, and give it a nutritious accounting system, and then it goes and doesn’t even score in the top ten! I know TCG can do better, it’s just not trying hard enough, not really applying itself.” TCG, in response, issued a statement that it was tired on the day of the assessment from a long night of what it euphemistically called “studying.” It could not be cajoled into further comment.

This is the second award for small business growth that TCG has received in the last few weeks, with the company also being honored on the Inc. 5000 for the fourth year in a row, albeit only barely in the first half of the 5000. TCG was also recently named by the Washington Business Journal  as one of the 50 Fastest Growing Companies in the Washington, DC metropolitan area for 2011, but we’re sure it’ll be somewhere near the bottom. What a disappointment!
