Last year, TCG was a proud recipient of an award from the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) for our contributions to Washington, D.C.’s economy. We firmly believe that our presence in D.C. proper is important for ourselves and the economy, as much of our identity and work is tied to the city. We have no desire to ever leave D.C., and recently started renovating a new building to house our growing legion.
Despite our efforts and those of the other small businesses like us, we recognize that there is yet more to do. As ICIC describes in this blog post, poverty and unemployment in D.C. are actually on the rise. According to ICIC, poverty levels have increased 1.6% from 2000 to 2013 and the unemployment rate has increased from 15.5% to 19.3% over the same period.
TCG’s continued growth doesn’t just benefit those within TCG. We hire from the D.C. metro region, and with recent initiatives such as the TCG Charity Sprees, where we donate $1,000 per month to any charity our employees organize an event around, we hope to do our part to bring down poverty and unemployment levels.
