TCGers working with local organizations to prepare meals for food insecure families.

Each year, to improve the lives of those around us, TCG employees vote to select a focus for the company’s support. In 2024–2025, TCGers chose to support the fight against food insecurity. This is the second time that TCGers chose this cause. In 2020–2021 we selected to support food-insecure families.

Food insecurity refers to the state of being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. In 2023, about 18 million households in the US were estimated to have experienced food insecurity (the most recent year data has been published by the USDA).

We are encouraging TCGers to support a number of organizations across our area, including:

  • Thrive DC: Thrive DC provides emergency groceries and meals, as well as other services, for homeless and vulnerable community members.
  • DC Central Kitchen — provides culinary training and healthy food donations to schools and families.
  • Food for Others (VA): Food for Others conducts food rescue operations and food drives in Northern Virginia to help neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
  • Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) — Since 1988, the Arlington Food Assistance Center has remained dedicated to its simple but critical mission of obtaining and distributing groceries, directly and free of charge, to people living in Arlington, VA, who cannot afford to purchase enough food to meet their basic needs.
  • Manna Food Center — Manna’s mission is to end hunger in Montgomery County through food distribution, education, and advocacy.
  • Maryland Food Bank — the largest anti-hunger organization in the state serving food-insecure Marylanders in 21 counties of the state, and Baltimore City.
  • Loudoun Hunger Relief — a food pantry that provides emergency food supplies for those in need in Loudoun County
  • Central Pennsylvania Food Bank — is fighting hunger, improving lives, and strengthening communities.
One in 11 Pennsylvanians, including one in 10 children, faces hunger every day. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to reduce hunger in 27 Central Pennsylvania counties. By working with more than 1,100 local agencies and programs, it serves over 202,500 people in need each month.

Activities and donations are planned throughout the year to bring awareness to the issue and address problems with food insecurity locally. Visit tcg.com/about-us/b‑corp/ to keep abreast of our activities.
