We’re an award-winning IT solutions provider to the Federal government seeking a Director for our Government Operations business unit to join our team.
This position is primarily remote but will require occasional in-person meetings. The selected applicant must live within commuting distance of Washington, D.C.
The Director, Government Operations oversees multiple contracts in a portfolio of contracts or one large contract across a wide range of technologies and standards. In this role, you will manage a balance of strategy, management, delivery, and overall performance of key programs, leveraging the highest levels of contact and partnership with all program stakeholders, including customers who are critical to TCG’s business success. It involves comprehensive management and leadership across program activities, client relationships, financial oversight, risk management, team development, and business expansion. You will call on past experience plus leadership and mentoring skills to lead, advise, and coach Project Managers who are responsible for the day-to-day delivery and outcomes of their respective program teams. You will be accountable for the overall performance of your portfolio of programs, as well as the identification and pursuit of new business opportunities that may arise in current or new client relationships. You will take the lead or support new pursuits in partnership with business development teams. This position is best suited for a person who is growth-focused and disciplined to stay organized across both current and future projects.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Program Management: Oversee program activities, ensuring contract performance, customer satisfaction, and compliance with standards like CMMI/ISO. Leads program strategy, identifies trends and implements changes. Manages the activities of staff including first-level managers, supervisors, subject matter experts, and/or individual contributors to ensure effective operational performance and client satisfaction on client projects.
- Operational Excellence and Client Satisfaction: Act as a relationship manager for clients, ensuring high-quality performance across projects. Handle escalations, risks, and project issues, while maintaining client satisfaction and profitability.
- Financial Management: Oversee contract budgets, forecasts, P&L objectives, and revenue opportunities. Ensure financial health by analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks at both customer and contract levels.
- Contract Compliance: Ensure adherence to compliance and performance standards, collaborate with legal and accounting teams, and manage subcontractor relationships and compliance.
- Culture, Coaching, and Team Building: Coach and mentor staff, maintain workforce efficiency, promote organizational culture, and foster team development. Engage in succession planning and strategic decision-making with managers.
- Personal Development: Stay updated with industry knowledge through continuous learning and networking, sharing insights within the company.
- Business Unit Growth: Contribute to business development efforts, proposals, and strategies. Develop partnerships, expand client base, and pursue new business opportunities.
- Corporate Capabilities: Enhance personal expertise in TCG’s capabilities, and advocate for the company’s competencies.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- US citizenship and the ability to pass a Federal government clearance
- 12+ years of project management with a minimum of 3 years of program and contract management experience both with FFP and T&M contract types
- Experience working with business development teams on RFP and RFI responses
- Knowledge of information technology issues and processes
- Proven ability to work with and communicate effectively with team members (consultants, technical staff, subject experts) and clients to define project activities and resolve issues and problems
- Proven ability to communicate within and across teams
- Proven success in revenue generation and establishing organic growth opportunities
- Possess and demonstrate excellent writing skills
- Have the political savvy to know how to phrase issues to reassure rather than overwhelm clients
- Leadership skills to inform and direct the team rather than confuse or withhold information
- Demonstrates creativity and responsibility in all tasks with proven success with large initiatives while working independently
- Excellent time management and ability to juggle multiple tasks under strict deadlines
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Scrum Master and/or Agile certification
- Project/Program Leadership, Technical Consulting, Staff Management, Strategic Planning, and Performance Management experience
- Outstanding organizational and resource management skills
- Strong technology background that provides analytical and systems thinking skill set; the ability to apply technical solutions to broad, complex problems

- Ability to talk to clients about technology solutions with the understanding that clients are not themselves technologists, with the political savvy to know how to frame and communicate issues
- Experience in reporting to and building relationships with senior-level government executives
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Experience working within a sales or business development organization with proven success
- Change Management experience either as a Transition Manager leading a Transition to a new contract or closing out an existing contract
- Experience in a Director level role, managing a portfolio of federal government contracts and teams with proven success
- Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Management, Mathematics, Government, or similar, Master’s Degree is preferred

Salary Range: $145,000 -$175,000
