US Citizenship is required for this role. In addition, the selected applicant must submit to a government background investigation and be favorably adjudicated before their first day.

This position is primarily remote but will require occasional in-person meetings. The selected applicant must live within commuting distance of Washington, D.C.

The Deputy Program Manager assists the Program Manager in daily operations, focusing on service delivery excellence and compliance with established project milestones. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in the management of all project phases, from initiation through closure, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule
  • Supports risk management initiatives, assesses project deliverables for quality, and facilitates communication between project teams and stakeholders
  • Engages in strategic planning sessions, assists in the development of business cases, and helps manage transitions and implementations across various project stages
  • Inform the Program Manager of project status
  • Facilitate communication between project team and client
  • Facilitate Agile Scrum ceremonies as needed
  • Participate in the development of proposals and presentations for new business materials to create and nurture business opportunities and partnerships
  • Facilitate staff acquisition, review and update position description and coordinate interviews

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Ten (10) plus years of project management experience. 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Agile certification (CSM, ACP, SCM, ICAgile, CSPO)
  • At least five (5) years experience specifically overseeing Agile software development projects
  • At least three (3) years experience personnel management and mentoring team members
  • Broad knowledge of the IT field with proven track record in managing mid to large-scale programs
  • Independent problem-solving skills, strong analytical abilities, creativity and a “helping others helps us all” personality
  • Excellent time management and ability to juggle multiple tasks under strict deadlines
  • Specific, hands-on experience with staff management, P&L accountability, business process improvement, financial planning and strategy, strategic planning, and performance management
  • Strong analytical and systems thinking skill set; ability to apply technical solutions to broad, complex problems
  • Ability to engage clients and speak about technology with the understanding that clients are not themselves technologists — with the political savvy to know how to frame and communicate issues
  • Experience in reporting to and building rapport with program & project team members, stakeholders, and high level government executives

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Work experience in the government contracting arena

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required.
