TCG stands with AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) communities during this time of senseless bias and hate crimes against them. We are offended by this hateful violence, we condemn it, and we commit to both helping our employees learn about it and working to stop it in our community.
On January 21, 2021 President Biden issued a Memorandum condemning the racist actions fueled by misinformation and lies about the coronavirus pandemic. On March 30, the President noted the establishment of an initiative at the Department of Justice to address anti-Asian crimes. We applaud this focus.
Hate crimes directed at AAPI community members increased by 149% in 2020 in the 16 major cities studied by California State University at San Bernardino. The group Stop AAPI Hate has recorded 3,795 hate incidents, including verbal harassment, on-line harassment, and physical assault against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. Scapegoating the AAPI community for the pandemic is immoral and reprehensible.
TCG and its leadership join our employees in condemning this violence.
