Rumors of a new cloud-based grants filing initiative

Mark Forman, the former OMB leader responsible for initiation of the Grants Management Line of Business (GMLoB), has announced that he will be “joining a colleague of mine in government reform, jumping into the cloud, with a cloud-computing initiative around grants filing.” This will follow Mark’s retirement from KPMG, where he has been since he left government. When he was at OMB during the Bush administration, Mark set up the E‑Gov office through what was known as the Quicksilver program.

Exactly what kind of “grants filing” Mark’s talking about is unknown. It may be something similar to the Recovery Act’s reporting mechanisms, which I believe are cloud-based, but that’s purely speculation on my part.
