As everyone who follows federal grantmaking knows, the Obama administration is trying to reform federal grants policies. Real soon now there is going to be a request for comments in the Federal Register on a set of proposals relating to federal oversight and eliminating rules and regulations that are unnecessary, overly burdensome, or duplicative.
To get the cognoscent prepared to join the conversation, OMB recently released a list of what they call “reform ideas” related to grants and cooperative agreements with state, tribal, and local governments. This list is a heads up that an official Federal Register announcement asking for public comment is coming.
