InfoWorld has an excellent set of reports on how to “Build your business with open source”, with overviews of products in categories including CRM, CMS, business intelligence, business process management, portals, VOIP, and identity. We’re  huge advocates of open source at TCG, use it throughout our operations, and have released a project under an OS license. If more executive-level publications present OS solutions in this way — an easy-to-peruse compendium of information — broader adoption of OS is inevitable.
