6th Annual HealthGrid International Conference

International HealthGrid meeting extends deadline for papers to February 15th

Feb. 8 — In response to numerous requests to extend the deadline for submitting professional papers for the Sixth Annual International HealthGrid Conference scheduled for June 2–4, 2008 , the conference’s program committee announced today that it had extended the date to February 15.

“We heard from so many people who wanted to submit professional papers to the HealthGrid Conference but couldn’t meet our original deadline,” says Jonathan Silverstein, M.D., President, HealthGrid.US, and Associate Director, Computation Institute, Argonne/University of Chicago. “So our program committee decided to give them another week.”

The HealthGrid conference, “Global HealthGrid: eScience Meets Biomedical Informatics,” will be held in Chicago. It is the premier conference on the transformation of biomedical research, education and medical care through the application of Grid technologies. Conference details can be found at http://chicago2008.healthgrid.org/.

Online submission for papers is available (http://papers.healthgrid.org/). Research papers — up to 5,000 words — with applications that demonstrate Grid-based resources are encouraged. Best papers will be selected for oral presentation at the annual conference. Criteria for presentation will be based on the content of the submitted papers, the originality of the contribution, technical quality, style and clarity of presentation, and importance to the field of advancing biomedical informatics and eScience.
